The oscilloscope display includes a cursor - note the blue vertical line in the image - that can be freely placed on the display to measure the distance to the reflection source. After connecting the PROFIBUS tester at node 22, our engineers determined that the reflection occurred approximately 45 meters away from the "other end" node of the network adjacent to the PLC.

The first step is to check the PROFIBUS connector bus terminal settings, which are correctly set to ON. Next, our engineer inspected the connector itself and found that there was a fault in the bus terminal circuit inside the connector. Replacing this PROFIBUS connector can achieve the following functions:

It restored the correct bus terminal.

The signal quality of the network has been restored to an acceptable level.

We successfully eliminated the PROFIBUS network fault that forced the PLC into stop mode. Previously, due to significant signal distortion, the PLC was unable to receive each data frame.
